How much time do I need to explore the major cities around Europe. I only have a week off work

It really depends on what you want to see. If you have a week, you can absolutely explore one of two countries in depth. For example, I. A week in Italy could give you time to see Rome, Florence and Venice. Or if you are into city hopping you can cover multiple cities in a week, but just know you will be doing a lot of traveling and might not get to see everything in each city. Europe is big and diverse, so if you are looking to visit several countries, consider focusing on a particular region ( like western Europe or the Mediterranean) for more relaxing pace
