Is a Venice day trip from Munich too much?

It’s will be a stretch but it can work if you take an overnight train , about 7-8 hours. Arrive in Venice early, wander the canals, eat gelato, then hop back on the night train 
to Munich. Not the most relaxing 
but definitely an adventure
